I have 24 players on my roster. After placing this bid another owner placed a higher bid so I then placed a bid on another player. The higher bid was since deleted and I am now the higher bid on 2 players which would put me at 26 players. Question is am I still liable for this bid on Mayberry?

No, you can delete this bid if you like

I thought deleting bids was a major no-no, as it causes situations like this. Shouldn't the other owner be forced to reinstate his bid on Mayberry?

I don't remember who it was. So unless that person steps forward I don't know how to have that person reinstate his bid

I will man up and admit that it was me who had the higher bid.
The bid was deleted, however it was not deleted by me. It was deleted by an LM, and here is why....
When Pat Corbin went down with TJ surgery, i thought since i would be placing him on the DL, it would open up a roster spot (that i planned on using for Mayberry). However, the LM informed me that the DL spots count against my 25 man roster when it is in reference to bidding on FA. So i asked if i could retract my bid on Mayberry, and never recieved a response, however, when i looked, my bid had been deleted.

I think the spirit of the rule is so no one changes their mind and people get stuck overbidding their budgets. In this case seems like a simple misunderstanding no harm no foul
