Currently, our Free Agency rules state that: (1) At any given time during Free Agency, you cannot have the winning bid on more players than you have open roster spots; and (2) your maximum bid is limited by the amount of space you have under the salary cap.
However, this is not how real life MLB teams operate.
In real life, a MLB team can go after a Free Agent even if the team has a full roster. The team can also sign a Free Agent even if it doesn't have room in the budget for the Free Agent's salary. In either situation, the team has to make room for the new player by cutting someone else.
Here's how this would work in our league. Imagine Team X is $50 under the salary cap and has a full roster, which includes Alex Rodriguez at $9. Team X wants to try to buy Max Scherzer in Free Agency, but bidding has already hit $52. If we allowed "conditional bidding," Team X could bid MORE than $50, but to do so Team X would have to include in its bid how it will generate the extra money (and roster space) needed. So, with "conditional bidding," Team X could choose to bid $59 and state "if this is the winning bid, Team X releases Alex Rodriguez ($9)."
The released player would then become a free agent, available to the highest bidder himself.
For those who were here last season, we followed this model briefly during in-season free agency last year.

first off i will not vote on this. im ok with a conditional drop to clear cap space during voting but i am not ok with clearing spce to make roster room during bidding. you should have to drop said player before you even attempt to bid. they way this is going why even have a salary cap for people to abide by. unless this is changed to were you can drop for salary reasons but have to drop for toster space reasons i wont vote.
sorry but you should as an owner have to make those "tough" desicins on who to drop or move if you want to even get a freee agent. thesse rules dotn even make it hard anymore.
sorry my two cents.

and i feel the same on this rule as well. 2/3 of the leageu members should vote on this as this is a very important rule change and over 50% should be what it takes to change the rule from the existing way it is. sorry but some if these are important changes. congress doesnt even think about changeing things without 2/3 majority

Poll closed. The free agency bidding rules will remain the same. Conditional bidding will not be allowed.
