would like to propose a new idea for bidding. first you must bid withing the first 24 hours to be able to continue bidding on said free agent. this will hopefully keep sniping down to a minimum because i know im asleep when these guys end at 11pm est because my job is way more important.
2nd with that 24 hours if noone vbids on said player he goes to dpl.
3rd if you are the leading bidder and if noone bids after 24 hours you win player no waiting a week to win a player.
thats a small idea of what it will be. will post a whole set of rules if interested
also i plan on making some sort of structure in this league since it seems noone can be on the same page.
will be making a pres. vice and so on down the line
thanks for your time

Ok i like to make a notion that we dont mention how much life and jobs is more important then this league.. We all know this league isnt on our importance radar.. that being said. I second the notions of his ideas.

I wouldn't mind a shorter window, but i think there are some issues with your proposal. If I have $1 to spend and I bid on a guy, then I check next day and I've been out bid I am prevented from bidding on anyone else since its been 24 hours, that doesn't seem fair either

Meant to add: I like the idea that the first bid on a guy kicks off a 24 hr bidding window. So if in Tuesday at 5pm I bid on jimmy parades He would close at Wednesday at 5pm. That way if I lose out on him I still have the option to bid on my second choice

well kyle i can say that we use this idea in another league im in and hardly anyone goes 24 hrs in the first day without being bid on. will get you more info whne i have time but to be eligible to bid on lets say cesepedes next year anyone who wants him must bid in the first 24 hours he is available or they cant bid on him at all. so if only 5 teams place a valid bid then onyl those five can continue bidding. this way you know who your against and no more of this 4 days 23 hour wait to only have the clock restart

Valid points my only concern is say I bid on David price next off season and after a couple days it gets too high and I can't afford him, then I am unable to use that money on someone else since I was concentrating on price. So even though I want to turn my attention to Cespedes I can't because the first bid on him was 48 hrs ago.

THESE ARE THE RULES TO THE PROPOSED FREE AGENT PROCESS JBACH WANTS TO DO I LIKE IT
•Free Agency is based on an open bidding model
•Each Free Agent will be assigned to 1 of 4 groups
•The list of Free Agent groups will be posted at the following link the day before Free Agency starts:
•Each group will be open for bidding for one week, after which bidding will start for the next group
•Owners can start the bidding process on a player by placing a bid in the thread that was created for them thread
•Owners must bid on a Free Agent within the first 24 hours of the first bid to enter the bidding process
•Teams MUST have the available salary cap and roster space for each bid that they are leading
•Bidding on a Free Agent will close when there has not been a valid bid for 24 hours (or 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time if the bidding lasts all week)
•Free Agents' salaries will be the amount the winning team bid on them for the first year, then the amount listed on Baseball-Reference.com after the first year
•All non-trade roster transactions are placed on hold during Free Agency
•Teams cannot trade Free Agents until the start of the regular season

in fine with anything, but we are getting awfully close to the silent bid process I've brought up for 2 years now. Down to the free agency waves I mentioned. Silent bids will eliminate overpaying, bitching about someone bidding last minute, bitching about someone quickly retracting an offer, and it will allow anyone interested in a putting in a bid to do so at their own convenience, and for the most part be done with it.

Not in favor of blind bids! Duck your proposal sounds good except would like to see players not bid on in the first 24 placed in a final group. If I need a LF and lose out on the one I was bidding on I could then regroup and bid on another that may have been in that group. Also your proposal indicates after first year we use actual salary instead of the conversion rate.

that could work bob and would love to go to actual salaries but if not then that would be fine also

I would like a better understanding on how the salaries would work from first year to the next. I understand that the first year would be that which the player was won with, but how are we going to have some players on the conversion salaries and others with actual salaries. Sounds rather confusing.

I still don't see a resolution to the issue if say David price and Jason Heyward are in the same group and I can only afford 1. I bid up price until he is out of budget but now I can't bid on Heyward as my fallback since they were in the same group.
I think offseason FA should remain as is because even though it drags on it is easy for everyone to get to over the course of a few weeks.
In season FA could be ripe for more tweaks b/c to JBachs point people up past 11 or on the west coast are at a big advantage with an ending time that late in terms of last minute bidding
